Central Technology Center (Central Tech) offers a comprehensive Construction Trades program at its Drumright campus, designed for both high school and adult learners aiming to enter the building and cabinetmaking industries. The curriculum provides practical, hands-on experience in various aspects of residential construction, including framing, roofing, drywall installation, interior and exterior finishing, and cabinetmaking. Students engage in building a house from the ground up, collaborating with peers in Pre-Engineering and Electrical Trades to gain a holistic understanding of the construction process. The program emphasizes safety, blueprint reading, and the use of hand and power tools, preparing graduates for entry-level positions in carpentry and related fields.
The program spans the academic year from August to May, with flexible scheduling options for high school students attending half-day sessions and adults choosing from morning, afternoon, or full-day classes. Students can earn certifications such as OSHA-10 and may be eligible for financial aid and scholarships. Graduates often pursue further education in Construction Management at institutions like OSU-IT or enter the workforce in roles such as carpenters, cabinetmakers, or drywall installers. The program’s emphasis on real-world projects and skill development ensures that students are well-prepared for successful careers in the construction industry.
